Minutes of KCF Meeting May 27th, 2007

At Little Garden Bar, Kampot

 

Attendees:  Hans, Sandy, Norm, Joe, Hong, Sim, Melanie, Caroline, Deveena

 

Norm and Kim Hong took the minutes. Reading of the minutes by Sandy and action points reviewed.

 

1) Postcards

 

Norm to follow up with postcard delivery and payment or contract.

 

Rusty Keyhole – paid, awaiting next delivery

Rikitikitavi – paid, awaiting next delivery

Bokor Mountain Lodge – paid, awaiting next delivery

Jasmine – sold nil

 

All the above agreed to continue on a sale-to-return basis, not a great deal of interest shown in signing contract.

 

It was decided to review postcards and to use more of a variety and to make postcards smaller. Hans suggested an idea for people to take cards when traveling overseas as a fundraiser.

 

2) Angela’s bowls

 

Suggestions for outlets: various guesthouses and establishments in town. It was undecided where the funding for this would come from.  Oxcart not yet found to purchase items from.

 

3) PTC handicrafts

 

It was decided to use same outlets as in point 2).

 

4) Kid’s art

 

Norm and Joe discussed possible link with Epic Arts to work together with art teacher. Joe will look into the possibility of organizing materials to be donated.

 

5) Website for KCF

 

Sandy agreed to establish this and also to look around for best possible price. It was agreed that 50$ for one year is expensive. It was suggested that Jerome could be contacted for possible better price. Norm agreed to a link and also to arrange links with other establishments.

 

6) Boat race

 

Cancelled. More time was needed. This event to be organized at a later date. Steve to notify us when he has more sponsorship.

 

7) Recommendation of a child

 

Proposal from Deveena. Selection criteria to be decided by Cambodian Trust, Epic Arts, Peace Corps, VSO. To follow up a proposal for a child with a home visit. Proposal from Executive Committee to  change charta, not just VSO. Executive Committee to be chaired with Khmer person. Hans will discuss this with other parties.

 

It was proposed that Dr. Philippe be contacted by Norm and asked to join the committee as he has a knowledge of needy causes.

 

 

Next KCF meeting to take place July 1st, 4pm, at Sandy’s place, riverfront.
