Other local initiatives.

Sandy asked if KCF is an appropriate place to look for funding for a particular child. Yes, assessments are done on a case by case basis, just need to present the child’s plight, what is needed in kind and supporting evidence.

The Chumkriel Language School was discussed – funding is needed. Income can be raised from Sandy’s home. Currently, the school is continuing but the scholarship program is in jeopardy – there are no funds to pay teacher salaries after April.

ASAC – a Japanese NGO may provide some funding after witnessing classes.

Neil’s shop – what to do…it is funded for 3 months so Sandy wants to get on with it. Logo – Jos to help with ideas for the sign etc. Also an avenue to supply posters, leaflets, local produce to resell.

Website for shop, perhaps with gains from this experience, Sandy could maybe do one for KCF – next meeting to come with a list of proposed names.

Hans and Jos offered to help with the shop.

Sandy summarized Steve’s ideas  - boat race event at the rapids and Utopia to be held on the first holiday after Khmer New Year – Kings Birthday on 14th May. If people around then could sponsor racing boats, set up information or sales stalls at the site.

Maybe the water festival fair in November could learn from Steve’s experiences.

Open Days at schools – volunteer. Kim Hong to do a flyer with information about KCF to put up at the schools. Sim to translate posters to Khmer to help raise awareness of access to the fund.

Khmer volunteer contact numbers also need to be included so KCF is approachable for Khmers who know children that need support.

Kampot Interact shop to go ahead.

Sandy to experiment with website making.

School Open Days: Kim Hong to make info flyer, Sim to translate.
